Until the other day I had no idea what these kids (and now adults) were talking about; usually in reference to some ridiculously stupid thing they just did or were thinking about doing. Let's talk about this, shall we?Because of how annoying I find this new trend, I welcome you to this little webpage where I am using some of the most annoying web design practices like using tables for layout and Comic Sans for the font. I might even use the tag in here somewhere. Oh, and I'm centering everything. You're welcome. OK, back to the subject: YOLO. Even the Washington Post is covering this now. Apparently there is a rapper named Drake who has incorporated this into a song of his. Here is a picture of Drake: He's a dapper-looking chap, isn't he? That song ("The Motto") is on this album, Take Care I'm sure the suspense is killing you, so here's what YOLO is supposed to mean: You Only Live OnceThat's it. I'm sorry for so much of a buildup. It was a disappointment for me too. All this time I thought Yolo was a county adjacent to Sacramento. They have a pretty wonderful little AAA minor league baseball team called the Rivercats who seems to win all the time. Oh, and they have an IKEA, which is also pretty awesome. I like IKEA. So yeah, anyway people are using the Twitter hashtag #yolo all the time now, as well as on Facebook status updates. As I said before it's usually in reference to being stupid. But how that's different than most Twitter and Facebook postings. . .? I have no comeback for that one. |
